CV NEWS FEED // A recently released report from the United Nations (UN) found that female athletes lost at least 890 medals to male opponents who claim to be women across two dozen sports.
As of late March 2024, “over 600 female athletes in more than 400 competitions have lost more than 890 medals in 29 different sports,” the report, titled “Violence against women and girls in sports,” noted.
The report stated that the “replacement of the female sports category with a mixed-sex category has resulted in an increasing number of female athletes losing opportunities, including medals, when competing against males.”
According to The New York Post, the report was “compiled by Reem Alsalem, the UN special rapporteur on violence against women and girls,” and “was presented to the UN General Assembly earlier this month.”
The Post reported
Alsalem went on to argue that male athletes had specific attributes — including higher strength and testosterone levels — that are advantageous in certain sports and can result in the “loss of fair opportunity” for female competitors.
During a Wednesday morning FOX News appearance, women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines said she thinks the revelation is “huge … especially coming from the UN.”

Fox & Friends First hostess Carley Shimkus had indicated that the UN “usually operates as a liberal global body, but they actually took up this issue.”
Gaines, a retired collegiate swimmer, told Shimkus that the “alarming, shockingly high number” of lost awards “doesn’t really mean much to me in terms of how inclined I feel to fight this fight and to push back.”
“One girl losing out on opportunities, one girl being exploited in locker rooms, one girl being injured in their sport, is one girl too many,” Gaines argued.
In response to the UN report’s release, National Review staff writer Caroline Downey wrote on X: “Will the Left still say this isn’t happening?”

Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer agreed: “This is so unfair. It’s no way to treat girls in sports. This is about ideology, not athletics.”
Popular X account Libs of TikTok related the news to the presidential election in less than two weeks.
“Kamala supports this. Trump vowed to ban it,” the account wrote, referring to comments the former president has made. “Vote wisely!”
Earlier this week, retired trailblazing racecar driver Danica Patrick came out against the notion of men who claim to be women competing in women’s sports.
“It’s completely wrong,” said Patrick, who has set numerous firsts for women in racing. “And this is coming from someone who was a woman who was basically in a man’s sport. A man is just different, their hormones are different, their body is different.”
Patrick has endorsed Trump for the president. She elaborated that she is “passionate” to support him “because it feels like voting for Donald Trump is like the vote of reason.”
